Floating Window Art

I found a great way to display old windows and since I just received a bunch of old windows I fell in love with this idea from Lemon Tree Creations blog.

 1) Scoured the dirty windows. YUCK!
2) Added a fresh coat of paint to each. Cheap Robin's Egg Blue and Light Grey, ($.33 each, yeah!!) As well as my favorite Martha Stewart Anjou Pear (I might cry when I use the last of that!)
3) Laid out the windows in just the right combination for sturdiness and visual appeal.
4) Purchased and installed mending plates from Home Depot. We used flat head screws to attach the mending plates in two places on each window to make them sturdy. I was pleased with how well they worked.
5) Found the best, low traffic spot to put our newest treasure. We had to rearrange some furniture (surprise, surprise!) but I found the perfect corner for a little burst of color.

I love this idea I found on the blog of Junk Camp. Since today is Earth Day, I thought using old wooden hangers for a towel bar was very appropriate way to say "thank you" to Mother Earth.

In the upstairs bathroom, I repurposed two old wooden hangers as towel bars. By anchoring a scrap piece of dowel to the wall before the hanger was attached with 2 screws, I created a simple, yet sturdy place to hang a towel!
                                                                                   
   Notice that the metal "hook" on the hanger makes a great (and easy) place to quickly hang your towel - no excuse for wet towels on the floor! And the wooden form is a great place to add a washcloth or even a hand towel.

I love this little red dresser; so many possibilities.

I have noticed in my books and magazines that metal tins are a great way to store items that you don’t want out for everyone to see. (A scrubby pad in the kitchen, soap, matches, etc.)
